Technology [ 3D SCAN ]

3D Scanning.

High-precision laser scanning of existing plants for retrofit planning, as-built documentation, point-cloud models, and clash-aware engineering.

As-built scan basis for brownfield engineering

06 / Capture [ 3D Scan ]

Measured reality, not redrawn assumptions.

High-density laser scanning of existing casthouse areas — turned into registered point clouds and as-built CAD that anchor retrofit decisions to real geometry.

Existing structures, equipment, clearances and routing spaces are captured on site, registered to a survey control and delivered in formats engineering teams can plan against. The result replaces "we think it fits" with measured geometry.

  • High-density laser scanning of complete plant areas
  • Registered point clouds aligned to plant survey
  • As-built CAD geometry for retrofit and integration
  • Clash and clearance checks against new equipment
Scope at a glance
Scope at a glance

What a CETAG scan delivers in practice.

Reference values for typical brownfield casthouse captures. Final figures depend on plant size, access windows and target deliverable.

Point accuracy
± 2 mm

typical single-point accuracy on relevant plant distances.

Field of view
360° / 270°

horizontal × vertical coverage per scan position.

On-site capture
1–3 days

for a typical casthouse line, around production windows.

Delivery
2 wks

from last scan to registered point cloud & CAD basis.

How it works

From scan position to engineering-ready data.

Three phases turn a noisy plant into a usable as-built basis — with CETAG handling planning, capture and delivery.

01 / CAPTURE

On-site capture

Scan positions planned around production access; targets and survey control placed before capture starts.

02 / PROCESS

Registration & cleanup

Scans are registered against control, noise and moving objects removed, and the cloud delivered in engineering formats.

03 / ENGINEER

As-built & clash

As-built CAD of relevant zones, clash checks against new equipment, and handover to the engineering team.

What the scan covers

From capture to engineering-ready data.

A 3D scan recovers documentation that was never recorded or lost over time — and becomes the basis for planning new work against measured reality. New project data can be merged into the original point cloud to visualise its impact on safety, operation and logistics.

Laser scanning of existing plants & equipment
Point-cloud capture where documentation is missing or lost
Registered point-cloud data for engineering use
Merging new project data into the existing point cloud
Impact visualisation for safety, operation & logistics
As-built basis for retrofit & modernisation planning
What you receive

Four work products, one survey package.

Every CETAG scan job leaves with these four deliverables — documented, traceable and ready for the next engineering phase.

Discuss scanning scope
01 / CLOUD

Registered point cloud

Cleaned and registered scan data in e57, rcp or las — ready for CAD review and engineering use.

02 / MESH

Mesh & surface data

Cleaned mesh and surface geometry for visualisation, VR walkthroughs and stakeholder review.

03 / CAD

As-built CAD geometry

Retrofit-zone CAD modelled from the scan — sized to the engineering need, not the entire plant.

04 / DOCS

Survey report

Scan-position map, accuracy summary and coverage notes for the project record.

Plan a capture

Have a retrofit zone you'd rather not guess at?

Send the area — we'll come back with a scan plan, access windows and a realistic delivery window for the as-built data.
